Type Locality and Naming

Along the Diyemalek River, Baysuntau Range. V.A. Khokhlov et al. in 1963, later V.E. Golovin, 1973 (174), divided it into Khodzhabuzbak Fm, Aylangar Fm, and Shatut Fm of Proterozoic age, 1977 (307, p.55-56).

Synonym: Diymalek Suite, Диймалекская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Composed of orthoamphibolites, alternating with horizons and packets of aluminous gneisses. Thickness 800-1000 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Along the bedding, it lies on the Palgar Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain with angular unconformity by the Aylangar Fm.

Regional extent

Baysuntau Range (interfluve of the Diyemalek-Aylanjar). According to A.V. Pokrovsky, it is preserved in the form of small tectonic blocks and outliers.

A.V. Pokrovsky (349) considers it a single unit and conditionally refers it to the Riphean. The stratigraphic name lost its significance due to its division into the three above-mentioned suites (442).
